Terms of Service
Effective date: May 12, 2026
Acceptance of Terms
By booking a consultation or tutoring session, submitting a contact form, or otherwise using this website, you agree to these Terms of Service. If you are booking on behalf of a minor, you confirm that you are the parent or legal guardian and that you agree to these terms on that student’s behalf.
Services
Marie Paul Chemistry Tutoring provides private, one-on-one and small-group online chemistry tutoring via Google Meet. Sessions are available in English, Spanish, French, and Haitian Creole.
Subjects and levels served include:
- General, Honors, Pre-AP, and AP Chemistry (high school)
- AP Chemistry and IB Chemistry
- General Chemistry I & II (college level)
- Exam review and targeted subject support
We reserve the right to decline to provide services to any individual at our sole discretion.
Booking and Scheduling
New students begin with a free 15-minute consultation to assess needs and confirm fit. Ongoing sessions are booked through TutorBird, our scheduling and client management platform.
Sessions are available 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM Monday through Thursday and 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM Friday (Eastern Time). Confirmed bookings constitute a reserved time slot, and the policies in these Terms apply from that point forward.
Students must have a computer with a stable internet connection and a webcam. A calculator is helpful but not required, since we can use Desmos online during sessions. Access to a tablet or stylus is helpful but not required.
Payment
Payment is due at the time of booking to secure your session slot. Packages are paid in full upfront; the package rate applies only to sessions purchased together and is not retroactively applied to previously booked individual sessions.
All payments are processed securely through TutorBird. We do not store credit card or payment information directly. TutorBird’s payment processing is governed by their terms and privacy policy.
Small-group sessions (2–3 students in the same course) are available at a rate of $112.50 per hour, split among participants. Each student must complete their own booking.
Cancellations and Rescheduling
We value your time and ask that you value ours. A time slot held for your session cannot be offered to another student once confirmed.
- 24-hour notice required: Cancellations or rescheduling requests must be submitted at least 24 hours before the scheduled session start time.
- Late cancellation fee: Cancellations made with less than 24 hours’ notice are subject to a fee equal to 50% of the session rate.
- No-shows: Sessions missed without any prior notice are charged at the full session rate.
- Cancellation by us: In the rare event that we must cancel a confirmed session, we will notify you as soon as possible and either reschedule at no additional cost or issue a full refund for that session.
To cancel or reschedule, please use the TutorBird client portal or contact us at MariePaulChemistry@gmail.com.
Session Conduct
All sessions are held in a respectful, judgment-free environment. We expect the same from students and their families. We reserve the right to end a session and decline future bookings if a student or accompanying party behaves in a disruptive, abusive, or inappropriate manner. No refund will be issued for sessions terminated due to a student’s conduct.
Recording of sessions — by either party — requires the prior written consent of both the instructor and the student (and parent/guardian if the student is a minor).
Session Recap Notes
After each session, we provide a written session recap summarizing topics covered, practice recommendations, and next steps. These notes are prepared for the enrolled student’s personal educational use only and may not be reproduced, distributed, or published without our prior written consent.
Intellectual Property
All instructional materials, teaching methods, problem sets, and written content created or provided by Marie Paul Chemistry Tutoring are our intellectual property. Students receive a limited, personal, non-transferable license to use materials provided during sessions for their own educational purposes. No material may be reproduced for commercial purposes, shared publicly, or used to provide instruction to others.
No Guarantee of Results
We are committed to providing high-quality instruction and support. However, academic outcomes depend on many factors including student effort, attendance, and engagement. We do not guarantee any specific grade improvement, exam score, or other academic result. Nothing in these Terms constitutes a promise of outcome.
Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, Marie Paul Chemistry Tutoring shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising out of or related to your use of our services, including but not limited to loss of data, loss of educational opportunity, or technical failures of third-party platforms (including TutorBird or Google Meet).
Our total liability for any claim related to our services shall not exceed the amount you paid for the specific session or package giving rise to the claim.
Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Maryland, without regard to its conflict of law provisions. Any disputes that cannot be resolved informally shall be submitted to binding arbitration or a court of competent jurisdiction in Maryland. We encourage you to contact us directly to resolve any concerns before pursuing formal action.
Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. The updated version will be posted on this page with a revised “Effective Date.” Continued use of our services after any update constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms. Material changes will be communicated via email to active clients.
